The BolognaRagazzi Digital Award: A New Generation of Children’s Stories

One of the stories of the 49th Bologna Children’s Book Fair is the new Bologna Ragazzi Digital Award. With over 250 entries from every continent , this award for excellence in digital story publishing is recognition from the world’s largest children’s publishing fair  that new digital formats have now joined their print-based counterparts for the BolognaRagazzi award. It also reflects how reading habits are changing.

Warren Buckleitner chair of the judge's panel says “Since the days of first computer, we’ve known that interactive media has potential for bringing magic to children. But multi-touch tablets, in the hands of talented children’s authors, brings this potential closer to reality, and is touching every aspect of the children’s publishing process. Children have new ways to interact with the ideas of the author, and book publishers have a new set of tools to tell a story.”

“The Bologna Ragazzi Award has always been about recognizing quality work and this is as true for the printed book award as it is with this new category for digital. We applaud and congratulate everybody on this first shortlist” says Roberta Chinni, Project Manager of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
